But it must be because woke. Woke bad! Student good! *grunts*
So many people on reddit were talking about how they read the essay and it was complete trash, where "god says" but they didn't even actually reference any claims; it was just "because I say so", solipsistic sorts of shit.

From the report in the OP, it seems the essay did not address the assignment. The student’s responded like a snowflake.
The university also engaged in snowflake like behavior, because instead of telling the student to do better they suspended the innocent tutor.

Make all woke illegal! Unwoke student can't get bad grade! *grunts*

But isn't this THE SAME as FORCED DIVERSITY???1?1 REVERSE DISCRIMINATION!!!11

Yep, this is a scam. This person just wants to increase her social creds. She deliberately tanked the test to draw attention to herself. She deliberately mis spelled words, had fewer than the required minimum word count, didn't follow the theme and etc. But she'll get a lot of pub out of this...

Agreed. The assignment was to address whether social interactions through acceptance or disapproval promotes gender norms based on a specific article regarding a particular study.

She wrote a paper saying that it was okay to do that because God. This was a yes or no assignment based on a study that was reported on and she responded 'people follow the norms because of god's will' while effectively ignoring the article entirely which was the entire point of the assignment, ie to assess information that has been collected and determine the significance, if any, it provides (this is science not metaphysics).

She wrote an essay that answered a different question from a different class. To make matters worse, she didn't do a good job of citing the religious argument, instead juat using her own truth.

If I was the prof, I'd handed it back to her so she could actually turn in a viable reaponse to the assignment.

I taught 5th grade back in the Mesozoic Era (to be precise, the Chalk Epoch; the year after I left the school stopped ordering chalk.) One year the kids were picking famous people for biographical reports. A preacher's kid in class raised his hand and said, "JESUS CHRIST!" in a loud, plummy voice. Believe me, I wasted absolutely no time in saying okay to that. Can you imagine the rumpus if I had said no? I believe his report ended with the sentence, "Then He rose up into heaven." All in all, he used good penmanship, had corrected his copy, capitalized every He and Him, and mainly used the Bible as his source. I gave him an A. What was I gonna do, add a note in red ink saying, "Your sources are dodgy, and there is good reason to believe this is all warmed-over Mideastern mythology"??? Back to the moment he picked Jesus -- and I said yes to Jesus (for the only time in this life)...A tomboyish girl named Brianna, with a wacked perspective for a ten-year-old, raised her hand and said, "SATAN!" Now, this one I had to disallow, and I forget exactly how I told her she couldn't report on Satan. Maybe something about having no sources for Satan's boyhood or schooling, etc.
I somehow think Brianna's leading a happier life today than Bible boy. But who knows.

Sounds like an average student submission to me...

What a dope. Thinking that there are only two genders because the Bible says so. Sheesh. Everyone with half a brain knows there are well over 50 (and climbing).

Gender assignment comes from the male gamete. Therefore Jesus...uh...Jesus....
"Joe, would you get in here and talk to your daughter? She put on your tunic again. She's talking all kinds of nonsense about going on some kind of mission. She's gonna be some kind of rabbi, which I thought we already covered. I cannot do the housework and keep up with these shenanigans of hers. Also, that fig tree you had out back is dead."

The Bible quite explicitly mentions people "born eunuchs". Pretty sure that's a biblical acknowledgement that it's more complicated than a binary.

I get it. Before I retired last May, I found that it was harder to get students to focus on
1) using data/information instead of beliefs, and
2) apply the intellectual concepts in analysis instead of applying feelings.

The number of genders wasn't the assignment. The assignment was about social pressures that could enforce gender norms.

You get it. The number of genders is irrelevant to the assigned topic.

If this student had been more on the ball, she could have worked in her intolerant views by referencing the role of religion as a social pressure on enforcing gender norms.
